Most commentators seem to believe that Polygon will fail in their attempt to squeeze out a higher price, and if they persist will end up holding a worthless stake in a shell company. But they must think they know better, so wdik?

Does anyone know what is happening here?
Is this a £2 plus share? I have accepted the offer of £159.25 but will this offer be finalised?
any views please.

Can't give advice - but if I still had the shares I think I would be inclined to sell now in the market. A hedge fund has been buying in the hope of spoiling the bid or squeezing out a higher price. It's a question of whether you want to wait and gamble on them succeeding, or take the money now.

I didnt anticipate it either.
Just lazy and left it sitting because there was nothing attractive enough at that moment to reinvest in. Also I had been lucky enough to hold RTD when there was a bid earlier in the Autumn so I knew the routine. I didnt really expect any further action here however and am still doubtful.
Assuming a further higher bid materializes and is successful as long as you still hold I think you will get the higher price. You have probably agreed not to sell in the interm as part of the acceptance anyway.

I think i will hang on to my holding a few days longer. 10m shares traded today and every trade above the 159.25p offer price. No good reason to buy above surely unless the prospect of a higher bid so I think I will watch and wait.
My letter of acceptance/refusal must be with my nominee brokers by midday 10th Jan so if anything is going to happen it will need to be soon. Anybody else with a view on this?

TLD are in to the FTSE small cap - hopefully this will herald some more action.

That's a nice breakout confirmed following a reverse head and shoulders that the chatists are going to latch onto imo.

It's not just the recent director buys that add excitement here. Seddon is a different director to those that bought 500K and 300K June 05. A bid fell through here a year or so ago with the price @ 110p or so - I believe the directors wanted far more than that on offer. Since then TLD have announced big profit increases and the acquisition of the rest of IOG Nordic. I suspect if any bidder returns then the price to acquire has risen substantially.

Earnings forecast for this year is flat with last year. I can't see that. The IOG acquisition is likely to cause 'some short term slowing' the pbt grew at 150%+ this year, if that slowed to 50% TLD would be soaring still - and they say earnings growth will pick up the following year!

I think all the director buying has been very indicative here over the past 18 months myself.

This was in today's times:

Teesland hits record as director's buying of shares raises interest
By Nick Hasell

Smaller capitalisation

Teesland settled at an all-time high as board-level buying stirred interest in the property group before its expected promotion to the FTSE all-share index next month.
December's review of the broad-based index tends to have a pronounced effect on share prices, given that it is the FTSE all-share, rather than the FTSE 100, that most tracker funds follow. Aside from meeting a valuation requirement, at present about £90 million, entrants to the FTSE small cap index - and, by extension, the FTSE all-share - must satisfy a liquidity test, whereby 0.5 per cent of their shares must have changed hands in at least ten of the twelve preceding months.

That rule should mean promotion for Teesland, up 2p to 109p, where David Seddon, a non-executive, declared the purchase of 47,000 shares at 106½p, his second buy in three days. Analysts suggest that Teesland, together with Rutland Trust, steady at 63¾p, could feel the greatest impact of inclusion, given that they have not previously qualified for any FTSE index. Other hopefuls include Abacus Group, off ½p at 191¾p, Vislink, unchanged at 100¼p, Chime Communications, pegged at 48½p, Manganese Bronze, 2p better at 499½p, Lavendon Group, steady at 268p, Creston, held at 202½p, and 4Imprint Group, 1p higher at 416p.
