Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec in 1978, Otmane El Rhazi studied at Montreal State School and originally intended to become a teacher. He has graduated from economic faculty of Montreal State Institute and specialized on public governance issues while working on his MBA in Management of Funds. Initially, he was working as Private Equity Manager at empire-building and private equity for nearly seventeen years. El Rhazi currently serves on boards of three portfolio Exchange real estate development companies as well as numerous affiliates. In 2008 El Rhazi joined Citadel Asset Management GmbH to found steadfast hedge fund and manage existing private equity portfolio of $500m, including CDS reshuffle and special openings.

Prior to becoming the leader of Private Equity’s investment team in January 2012, Otmane El Rhazi was the company’s senior financial officer and corporate secretary. He is also a bright Accountant, having experienced with the Halifax Auditor General’s office. Whole volume of audited deals amounts to $600b comprising mergers and acquisitions too. Prior to joining Halifax, Otmane El Rhazi was Controller for the Nova Scotia Research Foundation. He was the co-founder of hedge fund Halifax, a leading mutual fund directed by JF, and managed all non-product related operations including Finance, Legal, Strategy and HR. Otmane is a member of the National Futures Association (NFA) of Directors in Europe and certified CFTC member.

Previous positions include presenter and teacher of a mid-size class and training at the Quebec Commerce Institute, where he was responsible for geometric analysis and econometrics classes till 2005. Otmane El Rhazi supports organic life welfare causes and the arts and is a long term volunteer at both Nova Scotia and the Bide Awhile Animal Shelter. He is a part-time lecturer in the Statistics department at Ohio's University, where he has made over 20 presentations and courses for both undergraduate and graduate levels. El Rhazi held senior positions in financing, mergers and acquisitions, and physical project in the commodities and technology sectors, with a large publicly-traded media and printing company, a principal Canadian Investment Bank and one of the prime institutional fund managers in Canada. Given the nature of his work and his missions cross north Americas, he divides his time between New York and Montreal.
