Creation of Employee Ownership Advisory Company

Capital for Colleagues, the ISDX-quoted investment vehicle focused on opportunities in the Employee Owned Business sector, has co-founded Capital for Colleagues Ownership Partners, a new advisory business to increase its reach and provide additional advice and support to EOBs or companies looking to become employee owned. The new specialist advisory body strengthens and complements Capital for Colleagues’ position in the EOB sector, which invests in current and aspiring, primarily UK-based, EOBs.

C4C Ownership will advise clients on the process of becoming employee owned and by working closely with the new employee owners and experienced legal professionals will ensure a smooth transition to employee ownership status. In tandem with this, the Company can also provide capital investment through debt or equity to enable the incorporation of employee ownership and support growth, thus providing a unique all-encompassing service to businesses in the sector.

C4C Ownership will be led by Mr Peter Matthews. Peter has over 27 years’ experience in helping establish and manage consulting, advisory and investment management businesses, including over 13 years’ specialist experience in the EOB sector. This will prove invaluable in identifying new business opportunities for the Company in addition to advising both new and current clients on employee ownership to maximise growth for all parties.

Most recently, from 2011 to March 2014, Peter was a Director of Baxi Partnership Ltd, a private employee owned business focussed on supporting growth within the EOB sector, where his responsibilities included the development and management of the advisory and investment businesses in addition to identifying new business opportunities. Prior to this, he was an Account Director of employee-owned SAIC and became Vice President of SAIC Consulting. In addition to building an established career in the EOB sector, Mr Matthews aims to specialise in advising businesses on how to maximise revenue growth; as a Director of SEMA Group (1996-2000) Peter was instrumental in increasing account revenue growth from £13 million to £20 million per annum over a 20 month period.

John Eckersley, Chief Executive of Capital for Colleagues said, “With record numbers of UK businesses adopting employee ownership, the creation n of C4C Ownership underpins our commitment to maintaining a leading role within the sector. We have strengthened our unique service offering through the creation of a dedicated advisory business, which supports us in our strategy of capitalising on and supporting all aspects of employee ownership. Capital for Colleagues is now able to advise clients on what needs to be done to become employee owned, fully manage the transition to employee owned status and provide the financial capital to achieve this, in addition to supporting growth. This all-encompassing service further distinguishes our Company in this emerging sector and I look forward to the exciting opportunities ahead. Finally, I would like to welcome Peter to the group; I believe his experience and wealth of contacts in the sector will prove invaluable as we look to identify new business opportunities.”
