MILAN (Thomson Financial) - Vodafone Group PLC. is in pole position to buy
the Italian telecommunications company Tiscali SpA, the daily Finanza & Mercati
said without giving a source.
Tiscali, which has put up its assets for sale, has short-listed Vodafone,
British Sky Broadcasting Group PLC., BT Group PLC., Fastweb SpA and Wind as
potential buyers, excluding Carphone Warehouse Group PLC., according to
newspaper reports.
The daily MF added that an agreement on the sale of the company or of its
assets could be reached within a few weeks, possibly even by the end of May.
