HELSINKI (Thomson Financial) - Finnish retailer Stockmann Oyj said April
group sales doubled to 222.5 million euros after including Lindex' sales figures
in the group's monthly performance update.
Lindex, bought late last year for 851 million euros, contributed 57.3
million euros sales during the month.
Sales at Stockmann's Finnish department stores rose 77.1 percent to 94.8
million euros and 13 percent abroad to 38 million euros.
"The Crazy Days campaign (sales campaign held twice a year) made again new
sales records in all markets," Stockmann said.
Sales at the Finnish outlets of Stockmann's Seppala fashion chain also rose,
by 15.2 percent, as did those of home shopping business Hobby Hall, which
advanced 52.8 percent, after applying the new way sales are recorded for the
first time in April.
The group's international operations, the bulk of which were contributed by
Lindex, increased 149.3 percent to 97.5 million euros.
