LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Sterling Energy Plc., the AIM-listed oil and
gas exploration and production group, said that Denis O'Brien has lifted his
stake in the company to 12.26 percent from around 10.1 percent previously.
Entrepreneur O'Brien, a rebel investor in fellow Irishman Tony O'Reilly's
Independent News and Media Group Plc., now owns around 202 million Sterling
Energy shares, mostly through Baycliffe Ltd. as nominees.
Sterling Energy recently announced the sale of its gas business in the
United States so it could concentrate on its major oil exploration projects in
Madagascar and Kurdistan.
