LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Proteome Sciences has announced that an
opposition has been lodged at the European Patent Office to its patent for its
TMT technology.
However the company said in a note to the London Stock Exchange that the
opposition does not affect the existing status of the TMT patent, which was
granted on June 13 last year.
The company said it was in the process of reviewing the opposition, and that
its initial view was that it "does not raise any grounds of objection that
prejudice the validity of the patent".
Proteome added that the action "confirms the importance and value of the TMT
isobaric tandem mass tags".
The TMT technology is used for identification and quantifcation of cellular
and body fluid proteins.
