RECEIPT OF LARGE-SCALE MINING LICENCE
Berkeley Mineral Resources Plc, the AIM-listed mining and processing company, is pleased to announce that it has received the official large-scale Mining Licence 6990-HQ-LML.
This follows clearance by the Zambian Competition and Consumer Protection Commission ("ZCCPC"), of the acquisition of the underground un-mined or partly-mined ore bodies and other above-ground assets of Alberg Mining and Mineral Exploration Ltd ("Alberg") at Kabwe, Zambia, by BMR's wholly-owned subsidiary Enviro Processing Ltd ("EPL").
This Licence, originally issued as Licence ML1 when the Kabwe mine was first opened over a hundred years ago, was renumbered on closure of the mine in November 1996 when it was issued to ZCCM Investments Holdings Plc for a period of 25 years. The Registration has now been endorsed to EPL and BMR has lodged the endorsed licence at Zambia's Mining Cadastre.
The Licence covers a mapped area of approximately 703 hectares. As the licence holder, BMR now intends to activate a Zambian government survey to peg and verify the land areas concerned, obtain an official pegging certificate, submit its revised Environmental Management Plan and then make an application to extend the licence for a further 25 years.

We can now proceed to complete the pre-feasibility study and our process testing so that we can start to exploit the resources we have secured at Kabwe. We will soon be providing substantial lead and zinc supplies to world markets, just as the mine did, so successfully in the past."
