Business: The company has various gold and copper mining operations in a joint venture with the Government of oil-rich Azerbaijan . With the benefit of three decades of Soviet exploration work which has left an extensive legacy of documentary and physical evidence in the form of some 80 kilometres of underground exploration workings and drilling results. Group history: The first members of the Group established RVI in 1997 to exploit gold and copper deposits in Azerbaijan . In the spring of 2004 the Anglo Asian team found out about the incredible Azerbaijani mining possibilities and through a serendipitous line of events came to a beneficial agreement for both parties. The Group is party to a Production Sharing Agreement with the Government of Azerbaijan for a period of up to 30 years from April 2005 with formal progress milestones. World class resources: Soviet classified resources of 15.6M oz gold equivalent, plus potential for a further 78M oz gold equivalent, puts Anglo Asian amongst the major independent gold companies in terms of resource size. The Directors believe that Anglo Asian has one of the largest undeveloped gold properties in Europe or Asia.
