15/8/2012 16:52 | possible value in LDSG if they pick up parts of Dawson from administrators | grlz
12/8/2012 00:11 | Pension hole cripples cashmere maker THE management of Dawson International, the historic cashmere clothing maker, is preparing to call in the administrators, putting 200 jobs in Scotland at risk. It is thought PWC, the accountants, has been lined up as administrator and could be appointed as early as this week, unless the management team can strike a last-minute rescue deal to offload Dawson's crippling pension liabilities. 02/8/2012 10:34 | Having had experience in dealing with the ppf i believe it is out of control and punishes decent hard working people ,who are doing their best.more companies will be forced into administration as directors give up the unequal struggle to fund ever incresing defecits, caused by factors outside their control.the ppf makes matters worse by increasing the annual cash contribution to the ppf .current employees are funding often pensions to older members greater than they can hope to achieve.no one in their right mind would take on a business today with a defined benefit scheme. | charo
26/7/2012 22:00 | So on the face of it Dawsons have a pension deficit of 50M and have been seeking to enter the PPF which would safe guard its pension pot... this would meant the PPF assuming responsibility for the plans in return for cash payment, loan note and equity stake in the company. It will now assess remaining options (to restart negotiations or go into administration) Does anyone know what the proposed cash payment, loan note and equity stake may have been? Also any idea what the current Cash position is? (10M April 2011) Thanks, OD | opaldouglas

02/3/2011 10:56 | My interest in these is through a holding in LDSG. Anyone interested in DWSN should at least consider gaining exposure via LDSG rather than directly IMO. The upside is obviously diluted but the downside is much more protected. There are question marks about the two main LDSG shareholders owning over 50% between them but having met them both on a few occasions I believe they are working for all shareholders and not just themselves. HTH, IMO, DYOR. | deswalker

01/3/2011 09:45 | I get the impression (and not just from the tone of these results but from elsewhere too) that the talking down of the business side is very largely real but also not inconsequentially because it may help in negotiations with the pension regulator. Perhaps a bit counter-intuitively the regulator is more likely to look favourably on the terms it demands of the company if it is perceived to be struggling than if it was strong. It's not me making this up either ... | deswalker
01/3/2011 09:32 | Well what do we think? Fairly credible just need to sort out the pension liabilities. | knowing
28/2/2011 11:22 | Confirmation that it was GP who sold. Overhang now with Brookwell but maybe they'll be more proactive in company affairs. | deswalker

24/2/2011 16:53 | IMO that RNS looks like Guiness Peat swapping out their remaining holding (following their large sale in Dec 09 and presumably some further dribbling out whilst staying above 5%) for shares in the AIM realization fund Brookwell Limited. | deswalker |
