26/10/2007 17:03 | Ta. I know what you mean about buying online, often now shoppers look in the shops, get the specs & model number etc, then go home and buy online. I am hoping that Dixons is wise to this - PC World (stablemate etc) is - and gives the same price in it's stores and online. | damanko
26/10/2007 12:09 | damanko When I buy white goods and electricals I do so on-line. I search for the cheapest supplier of my chosen item and they get my business. I don't know if DSGI do on-line and how their prices compare but I have not bought from them. I will watch DSGI with interest and I wish you well with them. | bracke
25/10/2007 12:53 | Thanks. Done the deed this morning, sold out, banked the profit and put the rest into DSGI. Time will tell, it always does..... Now have to concentrate on convincing everyone I know to stock up on white goods & electricals etc in the run up to Christmas. What about you, surely you need a new fridge....? | damanko
24/10/2007 18:49 | Of course you're right bracke. Just that I had only bought a few thousand, had been planning to accumulate quite a few more over a year or so. Just means I have to start all over again with looking for a similar investment. No worries really, I obviously get lazier as I get older....... | damanko
24/10/2007 12:08 | damanko I can't understand why you are "reasonably annoyed". Surely you should be pleased that your purchase has risen in value? | bracke
23/10/2007 23:43 | Sorry, been away, attempting to play cricket in Spain. Was a little like playing in somewhere like Worcester in the summer. Anyway - wavering, the reference was the RNS from the offer document posted about 2 weeks ago by Norbert/Salvesen. bracke - yes, you're probably right. Salvesen is now hovering at the takeover price, so may as well sell and put the money to work elsewhere. I'm reasonably annoyed. Having pored over Monday's FT about 4 months ago, I picked Salvesen as it was (I felt) undervalued, very decent yield, not rated by the City boys, etc etc etc. And then bought some, and continued on a monthly basis. And now here we are. Obviously I need another copy of the Monday FT..... though (and this is probably not the place to write this) Dixons comes to mind. They look too cheap, have a very good (paper) yield, and there is history here, just like Salvesen. Happen time to look at the DSG thread (as apparently they are now called DSG International). | damanko
18/10/2007 11:57 | Would it not be better to sell in the market and re-invest rather than waiting until December 28? | bracke
17/10/2007 11:42 | Thanks damanko do you have a reference? | wavering
15/10/2007 23:15 | 28th December, according to latest Norbert note... | damanko
15/10/2007 10:25 | Anybody got an idea as to when we get paid out? | wavering
02/10/2007 12:38 | if someone comes along now with a higher offer NORBERT could pledge its 'irrevocable acceptances' to the new offer, and pocket the difference or else raise its own bid. Good thinking - thanks! | wavering
02/10/2007 12:33 | wavering. irrevocable; is exactly that. if someone comes along now with a higher offer NORBERT could pledge its 'irrevocable acceptances' to the new offer, and pocket the difference or else raise its own bid. | cg1953
02/10/2007 10:47 | 78% premium suggests a higher bid is unlikely. The 27% may be the family holding which, if it is, raises an interesting question over insider dealing and/or manipulating a market. | ccnp
02/10/2007 08:14 | we have lift off, gutted i didnt get more of these when the signals were pretty obvious! Still its been a good stock for me over the years with multiple trades and have always made a decent gain, plus received some dividends. My kids will soon no longer be able to say "my dad owns that company" when they see a salveson lorry! | gazzastrip
29/9/2007 23:54 | Well, I picked a good week to go on holiday to France ....... and be completely out of touch, internet wise. Speaking personally I am a little miffed, I had hoped to build up a decent holding, before this type of situation happened. As an earlier posted mentions, a similar situation occured in 2003, and came to nothing. We shall see. In any event, as far as I'm concerned I'm still of the opinion that Salvesen is undervalued, Even at the current share price. I'll continue buying. | damanko
27/9/2007 15:08 | Imho bid price will be >85p for sure | plasticpaddy

26/9/2007 02:24 | the family position will be addressed by someone preparred to offer terms that avoid CGT. | ccnp
25/9/2007 22:25 | from the BBC..... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Analysts speculated that the wording of the firm's statement could indicate that the buyer was a private equity firm, but German mail and logistics firm Deutsche Post was also been mentioned as a possible suitor. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ | abcd1234
25/9/2007 20:39 | debt as i recall is massive here and the PE is hardly cheap. attempted a punt on the RNS today but got cold feet. 75p would be top dollar imo in view of the fundamentals. bidders will know about how greedy the family was historically but it is an established brand. my hunch is that this (again) may come to nowt...time will tell. family would have to succumb to the humble pie factor - perhaps they will. | upside potential |
