I've seen that trend. Same in Diageo (DGE). I hold both.
Thinking I might sell some Diageo at 08:05 tomorrow and buy same value back at 16:20.

Just need to get up in time.

Anything and everything is struggling to make any headway.
Rapidly running out of puff(sic) the nearer we get to dividend landing in the accounts

I expect a flurry of activity over the next week and even though I have long given up the weed will continue to hold for that awesome dividend.

#Action, until late 2023 getting a 4/5% return on cash was not an option, so un-invested cash was not bringing in any dividends, now the tide has turned so it makes more sense to have a higher proportion of cash ready and waiting, each to their own weighting, 10% is sensible just in case any bargains come along, BATS coming off from 2900 to 2300 on the write down was just 1 of those events (IMO), buyback secured for 2024/2025, ITC holding reduced, debt reduction in progress, further divestments likely, resulting in more of the same..

PF results are of course measured over a FY, anything can happen.. :o)

Agree. But as a trader I like cash to reinvest when share price weakens ie in case of BATS 2900p to 2280p. Also I recommend there is AGM next week?May see some share price movement up or down. Be ready to pounce.

Don't worry about shareprice unless your trading it. Buybacks until end of 2025 if I read it right, also tender offer to buyback 1 billion pounds of bonds. At this low price great for buybacks, last year would have cost a fiver a share more.

Only another 5% drop since the resident Buy High and Sell Low expert Topazfrenzy was pumping this with tales of doubling.
Now the rhetoric has changed to "Lets collect the divis".

I do laugh at he/she/its ability to get it wrong 100% of the time.

How many years would have to go by before there was any material impact on tax revenues - stopping 16 then 17, then 18 year olds from legitimately buying cigarettes?

Even then to counteract they could just put up the tax by a % or so.

There is a much lower % of young people smoking so they are already a declining source of income compared to previous generations.

The way party politics is driven you can imagine the outgoing party would be happy to reduce the next 5 years tax take anyway so they can blame the new govt for having to raise taxes...

#Kiwi2007, in NZ the law got repealed to fund tax cuts, the Gov could not balance its books without their duties and income..

Here in the UK duties/taxes bring in around GBP10BN a year for the exchequer, take that off the table and it has to come from elsewhere..

Bargains for under or around 2300 in March/April in the pot for the long term, a 10% compound return for 7 years owns your full holding for nothing and what it is worth at the end is the bonus, but at some point there will be consolidation in the sector IMB/BATS will undoubtedly be a big part of it..

Of course it won't come in here. Nanny state, don't gamble, don't drink, don't smoke, don't vape, don't eat it too much, drive electric cars only.
