Beeson Gregory gained 12½p at 105p on murmurs that takeover talks with Evolution, steady at 75½p, which the stockbroker has yet to confirm as its bidder, are nearing conclusion. Differences over executive roles and the valuation of its IP2IPO unit are said to have been resolved, paving the way for an all-share bid from Evolution within a fortnight.

TODAY:

LONDON (SHARECAST) - Shares in broker Beeson Gregory were up 12.5% to 105p in mid-afternoon trading on renewed hopes of a successful bid from cash-rich Evolution Group. Traders believe a bid will come in at around 124p but will need to be all cash to succeed.

two 50k buys in a row, it seems the bust-up might have been resolved and the deal back on track?

Board room bustup... maybe the dispute over take-over terms/conditions/price? possible reason for the recent drop in price.

Well judging from the sells amd price drop today, it seems someone's peed off the deal. If that is the case, then I wonder if the regulators are gonna investigate today's trades.

BGG is about to become the next take-over target!!! It's about time someone bought this company, it was losing direction/focus anyway.

Big banks no way jose. Small caps are where it's at for me at the moment. Big cap techs are way too Nasdaq dependent for me, small caps on the other hand are not.

Good luck.

Mate its just a xmas thing....bonuses....and that ...every year the same apart from this year as many traders have been sacked so they might as well risk whatever client money and make a nice little earner. BGG ....look at rnunn;'s post...thats what driving the price up. I bought them at float and some more at 82p to average down. I think £2.00 looks like it will be there by April 2002.
But as a "SHORTERMER" YOU SHOULD BE TRADING BIG TECHS AND BANKS AND TOP 10 VOLATILE COMPANIES...MONI...BT..LOG..ARM..ETC....

Something going on here. MM's don't buy 48,000 shares for the sake of it.

According to today's guardian an announcement is due: "This week an investment bank's (ie Beeson) ground-breaking £20m venture with Oxford University's chemistry department will announce its first spin off company..."

Might cause some upwards movement

Is there no interest/speculation as regards the merger talks with Evolution?

your valuation depends on what IP2IPO manage to pull out of the bag at Oxford, personally I think it is very hard to put a value on this at the moment, the only thing I realise is that the recently announced deal has to be good for the future. I just hope there are others that see the possibles here, perhaps some more press/news wouldn't go amiss.
