Looking through the takeover announcement for guidance as to when we can expect our money, I read that the transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2023.
A holder of 100,000 shares might receive £2,150 now by selling in the market rather than £2,250 by waiting. So he will receive £100 (or 4.65% of £2,150) more by waiting. If the wait is for 3 months, this is a return of 18.6% p.a.
There is, of course, a risk that the transaction may not proceed but it seems better on balance to wait rather than sell in the market.
