Reliance Communications and Alcatel-Lucent enter long term billion dollar contract to further improve network performance and customer experience to offer Next Generation telecom solutions across multiple devices and platforms

India's first end-to-end managed services contract and one of the largest globally

Cost effectiveness through introduction of next gen processes, tools and integrated management

Helps create more leaner organisation, moves 4,000 employees to partner rolls, providing them global opportunities

Reduces Investment risks with pre-defined costs targeted towards enhancing customer experience

Mumbai, January 16, 2013: Reliance Communications (RCOM), India's fully integrated telecommunications service provider and Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU), have today announced a first-of-its-kind, end-to-end network managed services contract aimed at delivering superior customer experience in Eastern and Southern India up to 2020.

The contract which extends RCOM's existing relationship with Alcatel-Lucent's for over USD 1 billion, will deliver world-class, seamless voice and data communications services to RCOM customers.

This is India's first fully integrated strategic agreement and one of just-a-few globally, to meet the fast evolving customer demand for communications applications and services in one of the world's most dynamic telecom markets.

Alcatel-Lucent will enhance Reliance Communication's operations, and synergize hitherto independent wireless and wireline teams to form a single network management organization. This optimized integration of resources will help Reliance Communications to strengthen its focus on growing its business, with top-of-the-line services to customers. Alcatel-Lucent also will drive a standardization of the tools, processes and best practices that are applied across RCOM's businesses.

This strategic agreement will give Reliance Communications the unique capability to proactively assure a high quality and consistent experience for customers regardless of device or type of connection. To enable the new model, Alcatel-Lucent will set up and operate next-generation OSS (operations support systems) and introduce advanced real-time optimization tools to improve network performance across Reliance's wireless, wireline, long-distance, fiber and utilities' functions. RCOM and Alcatel-Lucent will work together to create the pathway required by the emerging demands for data-driven and multiple device-led usage of communication solutions and applications by Indian telecom customers.

Commenting on the partnership, Gurdeep Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Wireless Business, Reliance Communications said: "We are happy to announce our new partnership with Alcatel- Lucent, which is a transformative leap from the limited scope and vision of traditional outsourcing of services. This will enable Reliance Communications to take the lead in offering next generation telecom solutions that will meet and exceed the expectations of our customers, and help them to transit from voice-led usage to a seamless data experience across multiple devices and platforms."

Rajeev Singh-Molares, President, Asia-Pacific with Alcatel-Lucent said: "This business association is an extension of our long-standing relationship with Reliance Communications, and our commitment to India. It also demonstrates our renewed focus on managed services as we apply greater selectivity on more value-added contracts. The enormous scope of this agreement will bring a wide variety of skills, expertise and hands-on know-how that we can leverage for the benefit of others."

Alcatel-Lucent will be responsible for improving network performance and ultimately consistent service quality, with the goal of increasing customer satisfaction and retention across all geographies as per the contract.

"This is first time that National Long Distance network and Access network (Enterprise) is being outsourced to deliver world-class service delivery and assurance performance. Our enterprise customers will be able to deploy state-of-the-art data services with high confidence underpinned by our integrated network and expertise of ALU" added Punit Garg, Chief Executive Officer, Global and Enterprise Business, Reliance Communications.

Munish Seth, President and Managing Director, Alcatel-Lucent India said: "Having partnered with Reliance Communications over the years, we fully understand what is required to manage and transform its network. We believe that our extensive experience with Reliance Communications has played a major part in the expansion of our existing relationship, and the awarding of what is one of the largest and most strategic contracts for us to date. This is a significant milestone for Alcatel- Lucent in India".

About the 2013 Reliance Communications/Alcatel-Lucent contract
As part of the agreement between the companies, Alcatel-Lucent will support Reliance Communications with a wide range of services including operations support system (OSS) integration, services such as benchmarking and radio frequency coverage testing, and service delivery management.

Alcatel-Lucent will also be responsible for network performance and ultimately service quality, with the goal of increasing customer satisfaction and retention. Alcatel-Lucent will also work closely with Reliance Communications to identify opportunities to introduce new services and expand existing businesses to help realize the full potential of its network.

The agreement between Alcatel-Lucent and Reliance Communications is the first for converged wireless/fixed-line contract in India, and one of only a handful in the world. Alcatel-Lucent will streamline Reliance Communication's operations, bringing together previously independent wireless and fixed-line teams to form a single network management organization. Alcatel-Lucent also will drive a standardization of the tools, processes and best practices that are applied across the business. Reliance Communications will benefit from with expertise gained by Alcatel-Lucent from more than 20 years' experience in network operations, outsourcing and a managed services presence throughout the world, supporting more than 100 operators.

Reliance Globalcom announces $100m of managed services contracts in 100 days

Global Enterprise requirements for post-GFC growth answered through collaboration and management efficiency

London – September 30, 2010 – In the aftermath of the Global financial crisis, the multi-national Enterprise community required network solutions to drive business growth efficiently, through the maximum utilization all existing resources. This increased demand for both collaborative, application sharing capabilities, along with processes that could re-focus internal IT resources. Reliance Globalcom delivered these exact requirements, to a growing customer base in 2010, resulting in over $100m of total contract value being secured in just over 100 days between late April and early July.

Reliance Globalcom has been developing processes specifically designed to centrally manage multi-carrier networks, and streamline network, billing and contract management for over 20 years, developing truly global business scalability for customers.

"Our global Enterprise customers, across all sectors, have had to overcome significant challenges to maintain business growth over the last 12-18 months. Being able to provide scalable solutions that maximize the value of existing internal resources either via enhanced collaboration or centralization of multi-supplier network, contract and billing management has been critical to their success," said Punit Garg, president and CEO, Reliance Globalcom. "Enabling our customer to grow their business regardless of geographic or business boundaries, requires us to understand our customers' needs exactly and provide management processes which achieve their objectives. Our recent results prove that we are delivering exactly that."

New business wins through local market understanding and consultative partnerships:

Reliance Globalcom's customer base has expanded significantly since April 2010, with several new multi-million dollar contracts signed. These wins are based on the completion of a detailed network capability and requirement consultation and the provision of, centrally managed, increased bandwidth solutions matched to meet the customers' evolving business needs. Collins Stewart, a leading financial advisory group and Avanz Technologies, a leading technology solutions provider, as well as a number of other global organizations are now benefiting from these advantages:

Zeeman: The textile manufacturer and retailer signed a 5 year contract covering the design, installation and management of a Pan European WAN solution across over 1100 sites in 5 countries to their central HQ in Alphen a/d Rijn. The new network fully supports IP-based calling across key European sites in addition to managed Payment and Transaction services and Alarming services. More details...

Continued Organic Growth through Existing Customer Renewals and Service Expansions:

Contract renewals with existing customers were also strong throughout 2010, with major Enterprise customers looking to further increase their efficiency of their internal resources and reduce the total cost of ownership of their networks. Major contract extensions with Reliance Globalcom for managed network services were made by Amplifon, the world leader in the distribution of hearing systems, Asystel,a system integrator in Italy, Agility, the leading global logistics provider; RIETER the Swiss based manufacturing company; and Hendrix Genetics. In addition:

Euromaster: The leading integrated tyre service and car maintenance service provider signed a 5 year contract to support more 1600 sites across 14 European countries. Reliance Globalcom will fully-
