I agree possibly the worst time to sell a reinsurance broker with the market at the bottom of the cycle and the dollar exchange finaly turning back. anyway made a few quid so mustn't grumble.

They have sold their only Underwriting entity, Alliance, which they inherited when they purchased Blanch a number of years ago. That may explain the slight upturn in price. Not much of a reason though.

There has been some industry press over a big win they had as a joint effort with one of their previous leaders of the US operation Rod Fox (who left in some quite bizar circumstances). Other than that I have heard nothing, so no take over rumours. However the price is ticking away in the right direction for now.

Interims - already anticipated by the SP, no scope for a re-rating yet IMV. MBO remains decent possibility.

I have not heard of anything but there are always takeover rumours with this Company. I have bought some just in case!

I suspect MBO might easily be on the cards here at this level or not too distant. Bit of history/ personality going on. In which case I wouldn't expect much of a premium.

Have re opened a short yesterday with a stop at 250. If it gets past that then perhaps the sentiment may change,but as said there is not a lot of good news but the price does seem to be stable at the moment.

Closed my short this am, can't run the position now with the looney increases in margin at GNI. Still think it's heading lower though, but will have to leave it to deeper pockets. Good luck in it either way.

I agree they just didn't come out with any good news for now or the 2008 year. The management would probably buy it back before they accepted any bid at this level, perhaps they are happy to see the price slip a little further!

Did you keep your short open? Will be interested to see how this opens on Monday, I still think it is a good Company but the sentiment is well and truly against at the moment.

Missed the auction at 207 yesterday pm, but gone big short at 240 this am. Expect 2 quid to be tested again in this one.

Yes but never the less it is still fundamentally a good company and I can't help but feel it is now over done. Bought back my short almost first thing and have a buy order in at 2 quid, a little cheeky but whatever.

There are some results out tomorrow so we can take it from there, I think the sell note is going to be the way to go though. Trading conditions have not improved and I cant see any dramatic good news coming out.
