It looks like the loss of contract could jeopardise the Promethean 193p offer.

Loss of contract with major customer, but no financial impact given.

Suppose it doesn't matter now!

Damn ... held all mine for a long term hold... matter of time until this did a FFY.. nice to get a profit but this should have been sold at 200p+

They had a few things to work through and then the share price would have risen steadily....arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I feel I have been robbed.

Would anyone take the loan note plus cash? Tempted myself though it is illiquid of course and there are drag along clauses and possibly an enforced sale later. Still quite like the idea of retaining an interest. Bought in at 230p so at Least I retained my shirt if not my jacket (potato).

Its a bit on the cheap side, the buyer is getting a good deal, I will get out with a very modest profit but I think the company have not been honest and have stitched up small shareholders...

PIL paid 15m for Jersey potato co back in 2014.
The share price was 260p

The winner here is the buyer as long term holders will have lost money.
I think they issued shares at 220p to buy JPMO.

Short term traders get a cash exit and the market expects this to go through.

Excellent outcome IMO. Yes, we could have expected more last year, but given recent difficulties, personally I'm delighted.

Yes similarly sold so well done holders. A bid was always the end game with Zucker onboard but I feel it’s a little cheap 🤨

I agree but sometimes contracts are in place lets hope there are get out clauses.

I am still not sure if it will be good or bad.

Currently the over supply of 2017 potatoes are still keeping the market going.
Never in 45 years has this old crop gone on so long but there is no choice.

I feel record prices will be made this year.

To be fair to the company there are normally (95% of the time) way too many potatoes and so its normally a case of protecting prices rather than profiteering. You can't have it both ways I guess!

And that is my point , if your business is spuds you should at least have a good idea about getting ahead of tescos in the spud queue

depends if they are in fixed price contracts.
On the farm today 300/400 ton
Could double to 800 during the season if the crop is as expected.
Basically a 25k sack of spuds today is costing retailers 12/13 pounds!

Well prices are way way higher now, you would think that a company that produces a load of potatoes would be hitting the jackpot, if production drops by 30 pct and prices triple then you should be making massive profits, do these guys know what they are doing, most commodity traders who are sitting in the middle would be making a ton of money, these guys should be the glencore of potato's

Interesting article in The Sun about a deal on potato exports to China: "... the Trade Secretary signed off on a new deal to sell seed potatoes, cream, yogurt and milk powder with are grown or made in the UK."

It will be interesting to see whether they can continue with their dividend strategy following the well flagged impairments & therefore losses in the current year.

IMPENDING massive shortages.

Good or bad for PIL?
These remain largely unchanged, though the unseasonal conditions in the first months of the second half underline the Group's exposure to adverse weather.

THAT SUGGESTS bad?

hxxps://jerseyeveningpost.com/news/2018/05/18/first-it-was-too-wet--now-its-too-dry-for-potato-growers/

William Church, marketing director at the Island’s biggest potato producer, The Jersey Royal Company, says they are not having to resort to irrigation yet – but the subject has been discussed.

‘Things have improved massively over the past two weeks which is amazing,’ he said.

‘We are still behind where we would expect to be at this time of the year, but the situation has improved. Where there is a level of moisture in the land, and you get a bit of dry and warm weather, potatoes grow like billy-o.’

While yields are down, growers are confident of increasing exports throughout June.
