I held my shares hoping for a counter bid to appear. Having waited until about a week before the deadline, I thought there was no longer any realistic chance of a bid appearing.

Whirlpool have pulled out now in any case so the so I guess it will return to the 1.83(ish) level on Monday in any case.

Yes but that was the first time he told you that he had sold - his previous post was that he was holding.

Market pricing us at 1.81 so it's not expecting a counter offer to surface.

I'm going to hold out just in case someone tries to join the party.

Anyway ,you have to make your own decisions and not blame others for your bad ones!
FWIW I am still holding ; NO ADVICE INTENDED!

Annoying in that I sold mine last week!

Given the amount of time passed since the bid was launched, i felt sure there was no chance of counter bid.

Flipping annoying!

We sold this morning at £2.0925

Bit harsh - he did say he was holding on for another offer in his last post.

Since there was a bid on the table and, any decent holding would have been sold without dealing costs.

Remind me not to take any notice of advice that you offer in future.

Not as annoying as having paid about £5 for mine a decade ago! Fortunately not many.

New offer from Whirlpool: realistically they need to put a better price on the table by the end of the weekend

Dipped in 460 Ved. Might be a long road but no rush.

Water Island Capital has, it appears, just bought a 2% stake in Aga Rangemaster at 1.81. Why would they do that? They bought the shares yesterday and the transaction has been posted today.

Agree Salty - much to be gained from threads once the Cowboys have been filtered. Keen on Ved - looking for more exposure to India too. Looks value now with usual risks etc. Vec has been best holding and think this will go further. Atb.

Thanks Richtea. I'm always interested in sensible suggestions from others where there is evidence of them posting to boards before a share price takes off (there are always lots after the event). I've actually picked up some very interesting companies this way, the best of which turned out to be an American stock GCI which i invested in several years back. Its share price went from about three dollars to thirty eight dollars in five years. I made a lot of money from it and i'm grateful to a fellow poster for highlighting the opportunity. Id never buy without first taking a good look myself though.

I've just bought VED as a risky recovery play in mining/power, i hold KAZ too, having started to buy at £2.00 as a play on longer term copper price. The price is ridiculously low in my view.

Not that you should pay any notice whatsoever but like lots and am invested in Vec, Iom, Gms, Gnc. Not necessarily takeover targets.Am quietly building stakes in mining trusts and energy funds. Been slaughtered and medium term looks promising now.

Very nice. The Mrs will be happy when I tell her we are buying an Aga with some of the profits.

Shame I paid about £5 for these a decade or so ago...! An inverse 3 bagger.
Glad I didn't buy many.
