Connaught's auditors are under investigation for their conduct in the run-up to the collapse of the housing services group in September.
The Accountancy & Actuarial Discipline Board said it had opened an inquiry into the oversight by PricewaterhouseCoopers of Connaught's most recent accounts, for the year that ended on August 31, 2009. Also under examination will be the conduct of an unspecified number of individual auditors, the Times reports.

KPMG, who don't even have the courtesy of answering creditors phone calls, put in a bill for £3.9M for 9510 hours of staff time.... that's an average of £410 per hour..... They've a damn cheek!

'what a shocker. a listed ftse 250 company failed to record 50,000 invoices in the ledger, and payroll records were from poor to non existence.'

Those involved really should be done for fraud

The scale of debt at Connaught, the collapsed property services group, will be greater than previously thought after administrators found 50,000 invoices that the company had not accounted for. Management accounts had led administrators from KPMG to believe that the social housing maintenance arm of Connaught owed £46m ($75m) to unsecured creditors, on top of the £22m to HMRC, the FT reports
