17/4/2024 15:30 | Sold most of mine a yr ago at what seemed a healthy profit , worried about the dominance of one share in the portfolio. Glad I held onto some, but sell and regret comes to mind! | wad collector
05/4/2024 14:18 | I actually bought more of this earlier today, madness maybe, but can't see anything better. | chc15
26/3/2024 14:40 | Unbelievable! I agree. Misses and I had 7% of our SIPPs in this since 2015. Keep knocking the froth off. Never saw this coming. Now in our late 70’s our tickers are too delicate to simply sit tight. What a ride! I’ll just buy some boring gilts before sitting back in the deckchair! | penandnen
22/3/2024 15:06 | OCI is at 30% discount to NAV .ARGGHH!! | davebowler
21/3/2024 18:55 | Indeed, I was worried that any bad news would have tanked 3i, but Burrows confidence has been right all along on Action. So then what's the next step, to keep Action or list it separately. I'm sure the bankers are working on ways to line their coffers here. | chc15
21/3/2024 18:37 | Cheers Blippy. I have now seen the presser. Action continues to perform like one of those business plans we all get from time to time which assumes accelerating growth in sales, margin and economies of scale, and you end up with profits the size of the GDP of Switzerland in 5 years. Except that's what Action is actually doing! Remarkable. | jerseyman1
21/3/2024 18:12 | I've said many times before, the institutional demand for this stock is crazy, it fits many portfolio styles, so it has to be bought - and they would be buying at these levels, so expecting much more! | chc15
21/3/2024 15:53 | Rise here over last two year is little short of amazing - and for such a large outfit. | brucie5
21/3/2024 15:49 | @jersey. "BRIEF-3i Group Says Net Sales 21% Up In Period To End Of Week 11" | blippy3
21/3/2024 14:09 | I haven't seen the Capital Markets Day papers yet......clearly something radically positive was said to produce this astonishing one day rise....anyone seen the papers yet? | jerseyman1
21/3/2024 13:26 | I still hold some of these at 2.48p unbelievably... them were the days! Similar time Taylor Wimpy hit 4p :) | g2theary
21/3/2024 10:41 | Can see this breaching 30 easily this year, a buy and forget stock. | chc15
21/3/2024 07:53 | Continues strong.Action has seen a strong start to 2024 across all its geographies. In the period to the end of week 11, net sales were 2.5 billion, 21% ahead of the same period in 2023. Like-for-like sales growth in the first 11 weeks of the year (which, compared to the same period last year, had one fewer trading day) was 9.6%, with growth in transactions accounting for over 100% of the strong performance. Cash and cash equivalents as at 17 March 2024 was 1,077 million. The business has added 32 stores in the year to date, including Action's first two stores in Portugal. We have also recently completed our semi-annual portfolio company review meetings. The rest of the 3i portfolio continues to demonstrate overall resilience with the majority of companies showing good momentum into 2024. Our full year results will be published in May. | steeplejack
02/3/2024 04:29 | How confident are you feeling about this now? | investor_guru
01/2/2024 13:56 | "Action generated LFL sales growth of 16.7% for the year (2022: 18.1%) and 11.4% in Q4 2023 against 23.4% in Q4 in the previous year. Transaction volumes accounted for 89% of the LFL increase over the year, and 106%"If you were looking for a reason to top slice, the slowing percentage like for like sales growth might provide a reason albeit a slowing is inevitable. The sizeable premium to asset value is an obvious rein to irrational exuberance!Remains a very attractive investment in my book. There's a temptation to trade which i'll ignore. | steeplejack
01/2/2024 11:29 | SP got a bit ahead of itself recently, good numbers again. Interesting no move in multiples on valuations despite market increases, sensible. Cant help thinking there should be a one off dividend to 3i shareholders on back of Actions raging success. | jerseyman1
01/2/2024 10:31 | Solid news, firm hold, buy on any large dip. | chc15
01/2/2024 08:41 | Figures fine but discounted perhaps.Shares have risen strongly ahead of these results prompted by Barclays upgrade raising target price to 2810. | steeplejack
30/1/2024 16:13 | Agreed on both counts.... | jerseyman1
30/1/2024 16:11 | Hmmm, a cynic might say that there's been some leakage of the results. An optimist might say "I sure hope so." | blippy3
30/1/2024 12:22 | Update due 1.2.24.On a roll currently | jerseyman1
30/1/2024 10:05 | Well a poor start to the month, but it s ending very well, record high incoming. | chc15
02/1/2024 16:32 | Yep institutions will be taking profits here, as they have to, with unit trusts and redemptions. However there was massive buying pre xmas to drive the share price over 24, so expect this to be another good year for 3i. | chc15
02/1/2024 16:23 | it was a big winner in 2023 - and rightly so. although Action's trading has remained impressive and a re-gear event must be closer very little else actually changed. so we've had a re-rating on top of Action's performance. larger companies where the story hasn't changed a huge amount rarely top the FTSE 100 performance tables for two consecutive years, so it's a good excuse for top slicing for institutional investors. | eigthwonder |
