Hmm....... TLPR reckon the ICAP deal will save them £60m plus another £5-10m.... if they grow sales then it is looking good.

I already have a decent chunk but a short/medium term punt might be in order.

Good luck.

1. Over two years, it has lost money. that's hard to do in the UK market.

2.I think Icap will do very well. Personally I think Tullets is doomed as it is yesterday's way of doing business. Voice has little in its favour compared to digital/electronic broking.

Athelney Trust are a nice little trust. Their June performance was hit by a relatively large weighting to REITs and small companies. Good long term record. Hold Tullet as well, and think the future looks OK with the ICAP merger looking interesting.

Gross assets of Athelney Trust are a microscopic £4.65m - yes less than £5m.

Their June performance is an eye-opener.

Doesn't surprise me that the CMA aren't interested in anything to do with voice/hybrid.

who would be?

it's on the way out.

Not good is it.

The real bright spot of Oil broking which has been a star performer recently is singled out by The CMA as the one area requiring attention.

I guess if the CMA have competition concerns about Tulletts' oil broking, one can but wonder to oneself how Tulletts may or may not seek to address those concerns.

There may or may not be some obvious avenues for Tulletts to explore in this respect.

Well, there we are.

FT today. Page 22.
City Insider column.

A highly insightful brief article on Tullett Prebon headed "Sticky summer" mentions "nerves jangling" over potential job losses where Tulletts is about to add 1,500 employees from ICAP to the 1,800 it already employs.

All this against a back-drop that PhizztheBizz has spoken about the need to cut broker pay ratios.

The FT City Insider's "man on the inside" says Tullett is "Like The Hunger Games - everyone's jostling for position post-merger".

Indeed. A sticky summer in Store.
