From the August interims:

Dividends
Under the terms of the current Offer from Motorola Solutions to acquire Psion, the Board of Directors is not proposing an interim dividend in 2012 (2011: 1.3 pence per share).

hi praipus
glad to see someone is still here. anyway i'm sure most psion private investors
are thinking this is a poor price for this company (hope motorola solutions don't get their 90%.) but it seems likely even with a new offer timetable extended.

Did you know Soro's has a holding here? (Opened in June)

I try to track Soros and other hedge fund type here:

rathkum I think they are some kind of hybrid systematic trader and arbitrager. They seem to buy quite a lot of takeover targets immediately after the first formal offer is announced. I suspect hoping for:
1) a counter offer
2) if not counter offer only make a small loss if any
3) risk the possibility of larger loss only if the offers gets withdrawn.
If you had enough historic data you could work out the probabilities.
4) they sell the shares of the bidder hoping they will go down and make something both sides.

Praipus-I have wonder if these guys are buying in the market on behalf of Motorola. The amount they are buying is very small indeed so that would seem unlikely.

Agreed. Must admit to buying these without looking but now I am I see that NAV is £1.22, Tobin Q is .52 and current ratio is 1.5 so IMHO takeover would normally be between £1.20 and £1.60!

Let's hope there is another player prepared to out bid Motorola though I suspect this is a very long shot. I always felt a bidder to have to bid over £1 to win over Psion but I guess in these markets they were always going to be vulnerable.

British computing pioneer Psion (LON:PON) today recommended a £129.3 million takeover bid from Motorola Solutions.
The 88p a share bid is priced at a 45.5 per cent premium to yesterday's closing price of 60.5p.

I suppose Dell or HP, should they wish to get into this market still have Intermec to go at or even Motorola Solutions itself.

One thing we can be pretty sure about is that Intermec, with all its debt wont be making a counter bid.Not since they made that last silly acquisition.

This is an agreed bid so it looks very unlikely but long shot of a possible counter bid
