13/3/2024 16:01 | IC article last week said BUY , pointed out that CKNs different arms tend to protect it from specific shipping problems. | wad collector
04/3/2024 11:08 | I like a report that does not use the words headwind or pressure. £40 on the horizon I think. I see the previous profit forecast of "not less than £108M" was accurate at £109m! | wad collector
04/3/2024 08:35 | Decent results as expected. Wish the EPS and revenue was a little higher but cannot complain. Looks like a strong breakout again IMO. | phg87

05/1/2024 08:27 | 5 January 2024 Closed Period Trading Update Clarkson PLC, the world's leading provider of integrated shipping services, today announces that following strong trading throughout the final quarter, particularly from the Broking division, results for the year ending 31 December 2023, are now anticipated to be ahead of current market expectations. Clarksons' underlying profit before tax, subject to audit, is now expected to be not less than GBP108m. Clarksons' results will be reported on 4 March 2024. They made an almost identical statement year ago ,only they said not less than £98M and it turned out to be £102M. So about 10% up on last year. 2 yrs ago the numbers were significantly less, about £70M , and the share price touched £40. But other things are different of course. | wad collector
15/12/2023 18:48 | Containers was potentially a weak point for Clarkson, but that looks more comfortable now with Red Sea attacks: The pause will probably be short term, but I'm not sure how one hardens a vessel as big as these large container ships. | hpcg
13/12/2023 10:48 | Yes thanks for that clarification, I didn't appreciate the differential markets. There are few other opportunities to invest in the Shipping sector on the UK stock exchange, bit of an anomaly really. | wad collector
13/12/2023 08:39 | My pleasure. I am expecting Clarkson to beat expectations this year with 237p of EPS forecast and 134p delivered in the first half so we should get a robust trading statement in the first fortnight of January. It is amazing that more investors are not attuned to Clarkson because it has been a stunning long term stock. Jp Morgan recently bumped their target price to 3950p | harry davis
13/12/2023 08:32 | Thanks for your insights Harry, you are somewhat of an expert and I trust your views and explanations. I really appreciate your posts. | wsm812
12/12/2023 16:40 | To simplify. On chartering, Clarkson has Dry Cargo, Containers and Tankers. Braemar has Dry Cargo and Tankers and basically no containers. There is also sale and purchase activity (trading in new and second hand ships) Dry Cargo rates have firmed strongly and look very positive Tanker rates are firm and in my view will get even more firm next year Container rates are weak, and bouncing around trough lows Sales and purchase activity is good The only bit that is weak is container rates, which is not a big part of the overall pie. Dry Cargo and Tankers are doing well and Clarkson and Braemar will benefit. Does that make sense or I can try to explain again? I also urge you to read my substack I linked above as I have talked a bit about this | harry davis
12/12/2023 16:37 | Maybe I am misunderstanding CKN, but the freight prices are dropping and oversupply is becoming more of an issue, surely this must have some negative effect on the broker profits? Or does the commission not drop much? | wad collector
08/12/2023 18:34 | Good to see £30 breached for first time in 4 months. | wad collector
07/12/2023 21:01 | Hello all, I would like to post across an in depth review I posted after the market close today on Braemar. If you ignore the Braemar stuff, I believe you may find some of the included information helpful on shipbroking background, shipbroking market shares, market data on tankers and the dry cargo markets. Some of it may be of value to readers. For many of the reasons at the market level I am bullish on Braemar I am also bullish on Clarkson | harry davis
29/11/2023 13:44 | Baltic Dry Index 2696! 1.5 year high | harry davis
25/11/2023 19:04 | The China stimulus package and what is happening in the panama canal (look it up!) is causing a big improvement in time charter rates. Look at the Baltic Dry Index last week and since September. Containerships is the weak area and that will stay the same next year, but tanker and dry cargo are great places to be and they are much bigger share of seaborne trade Clarkson et al. are going to have a good next 12-18 months. I would position long the shipbrokers for the foreseeable future. If anything happens to the Suez Canal trade route then shipping rates could completely skyrocket. I hope that does not happen for inflation's sake but the market is blissfully unaware of what could happen. | harry davis
22/8/2023 21:57 | Added 26.73. | wad collector
08/8/2023 07:23 | The uncapped pay of the CEO and CFO have been highlighted as disproportionate. Last year the pair had £13M , which was more than half the total dividend cost. Maybe they are worth it , but I doubt the lowest paid workers will view it that way. The pay policy comes up for renewal at this year's AGM. | wad collector
07/8/2023 22:22 | Yes I cannot see why the share price has dropped to a 9 month low on today's interims. Maybe it was the reference to the fragility of the recovery, but seems a bit harsh on the share price | wad collector
07/8/2023 13:53 | Shows how sentiment is in the market Once upon a time this would have been in the way to £40Good results today plenty of cash on the books as well | 1pvh

09/3/2023 18:35 | IC retains a Buy rating on CKN: strong forward order book, healthy balance sheet and forward p/e of 14 versus 5 year average in excess of 20. | shalder
08/3/2023 20:06 | Well I pushed my limit buy a little too far yesterday and missed it by 1p! Taken off again today, suspect some broker attention and probably an article in IC tomorrow. | wad collector |
