SPLITs Followers’ Thoughts for 2007 (JDT)

As I’ve stated before on our other JDT threads, personally I found 2006 rather difficult. Finished just 5.6% in the blue thanks mainly to a recent and very useful trade in toy group CCT; and some earlier covered warrant calls in Silver. Took the profit in REOZ (now back in again), whilst RLSZ marched on as my banker. The year was screwed by:

a). holding too long onto a few tertiary miners
b). a couple of DOW put hedges which naturally lost money!

I read that others faired better, especially tiltonboy. So, congratulations to all those who beat the Market; and I hope both regulars and new visitors to these threads will continue to share their thoughts with us with a view to a profitable 2007.

My Share of the Year for 2007 is one I posted on the 2006 thread quite recently – Encore Oil (EO.). In essence: Well-respected & experienced management; good licences; ample funding; Industry credibility and political security. But perhaps most important is the fact that we are still very early in this particular game. The Market Cap @ 25p is a mere £58.5m; and the mid-December placing @ 24p explains the reason for the recent pullback, whilst perhaps providing a line in the sand for a support level.

Sure, their imminent drilling on the Golden Eagle prospect is important and could be “Company Making”; but a failure there wouldn’t be a total disaster as they have amassed a well diversified portfolio of drill-bit opportunities.

This is very much an oily minnow; but one that seems to me to have all the makings of an attractive speculation.
