#GaryCook, I hold those 3.. :o), but try to achieve a portfolio average of 5/6% income, holding just the high yield stocks can often bite back IF they get halved (DEC/VOD), or cancelled completely (DLG), it is of course the FY average that matters most YoY..

ULVR should (hopefully) make a 5% CG this year on top of the dividend, buying at 3750 last week now looks a gift..!

Yep, Should have increased the Dividend with a 4.4% Q1 profit. I would buy ULVR if they increased the Dividend. A 3.7% yield is poor. When you can get 10% on BATS, and 8.2% on IMB !

Slowdown in HUL weighing on the ULVR share price

Watched the Fundsmith AGM recently. They seemed quite positive on Unilever and its future share price performance, especially given poor performance over recent years. They were also more positive about the new management, as they could not be much worse than the previous incumbents.

Fundsmith AGM was before ice cream spin-off so don't know their thoughts on that.

I hold hoping Terry is correct!

I believe Porsche is talking about the whole Uk market is going nowhere. The market is just not currently valuing stocks correctly. There is just no interest in allocation to UK listing. Unfortunately this is not new. Now Unilever is a global co thus it should have international appeal . However UK managers have maxed out on their allocation to this co and simply won’t allocate further and it won’t get any pick up via ETF allocations as FTSE is out of favour.

The market confirms all of this via the constant PE purchases of small , mid cap UK with massive premiums to current share prices.

Finally what we see after results of Unilever and ABF as an another example , an immediate mark up then a constant drain down until next results as they are just not getting a bid. Last results shown increase in sales for the first time in a while. P &G however continued to see sales full in their results. Just look at the difference in performance. It’s crazy but I can’t see it changing. Time for Unilever and ABF to follow others and move from UK listing .

Fundsmith AGM: Unilever tirade softens as stock tipped for big win

Fundsmith Equity manager Terry Smith believes the tide may be turning at Unilever (ULVR) after being a longstanding vocal critic of the consumer staples giant.

Speaking at his £24.1bn open-ended fund’s annual general meeting (AGM) at London’s Central Hall Westminster, Smith said that although he still worries about Unilever, he believes its new management is ‘actually pretty decent’.

Smith’s right-hand man and head of research, Julian Robins, tipped the company as having ‘potentially the most upside’ in the portfolio this year. It currently makes up 3.1% of the fund.

Unilever (ULVR) has featured in the portfolio since the fund’s launch in 2010. However, the stock has been a serial underperformer of late. Over five years, its share price has dropped 2.3%.

Smith added that despite his previous qualms about Unilever’s management, the company has a huge scale of distribution, with nearly half the global population using its products.

Several other top fund managers have been buying into Unilever in recent months.

If I was to match P&G valuation I get a share price of about £65.

I am reconsidering my holding in Unilever, but waiting till next results in Feb. If there are no early signs of revenue growth and higher margins I'll move onto something else.
Disappointed to say the least. Kraft Heinz dodged a bullet evidently. 40 pounds per share were offered. After 6 years we are below that figure. 6 years! Not even in the best case I can see the share price reach £50 with a 1 year view. It is reasonable for an investor to expect 25% return in one year considering how much stagnation we had to endure for much too long. I may sound frustrated... I indeed am

I look to have picked the wrong time to try and emulate Nick Train

Away from my financials (dubious if I m being charitable) both this Ulvr and Dge have been initial disappointments but still early days.

It would be better if ulvr had pulled out of Russia as does raise a question mark to my mind and this latest furore over food price rises will again do nothing in the short term for the share price.

But as they say I m in it for the long haul arduous though it may seem.

Hope I ve timed it right

ULVR share price is nowhere near strong enough ad there would need to be an equity element with new shares issued.

Since the last reported interest the cost of detveting debt has soared, so it's a complete non starter - at least at this point.
