I don't follow the fine detail of these 2.9 & 8.3 disclosures. I assume to begin with the buyers hoped for a bid, but again, I assume that is looking unlikely. However, there is still the hope for those buying in that they will upset the scheme of arrangement. The danger is that if the scheme is upset, Horizon & Perkin Elmer will call it all off: I think that is unlikely. The hope is that that Horizon & Perkin will sweeten the terms by (say) 10% in an effort to get it through.

I intend to do nothing, and see what happens. The market price is higher than the scheme price, but not by all that much, and you will get the offer price (lower than the market price), and you will pay broker's fees.

Yes, I understand that. I meant I was dithering over whether to sell them now rather than wait for the deal to go through at a lower price than I could get now, assuming it does go through. I see the share price was 200 first thing this a.m., now 191.

Investigate issues these reports daily; this is today's, which shows a larger number than yesterday's. What exactly does this mean? That HZD have issued more shares or they have bought more? If they had enough unconditional support to secure the vote, surely they wouldn't need to do the latter, would they? Why is anyone they prepared to pay more now than they will get (or have to pay out) when the deal completes? I'd expect the share price to be lower than the t/o price if it's a done deal. Is there another bidder in the wings or is there a chance that the deal won't go through? Have they already got sufficient committed acceptances, in which case why does the share price keep going up? Or is it shorters having to buy back at a high price? All very confusing.

Edit: I left out the report:

"In accordance with Rule 2.9 of the City Code on Takeovers and Mergers, Horizon confirms that, on 25 November 2020 (the date of this announcement), it has 158,310,476 ordinary shares of £0.01 each in issue and admitted to trading on AIM. The International Securities Identification Number ("ISIN") for the Company's ordinary shares is GB00BK8FL363."

I'm still holding and debating what to do. I don't know whatto make of s.p
movements. Numis seems to be trading in HZD but who are they selling to?

HZD have exceeded expectations as we have great news. MERRY XMAS EVERYONE... especially to those who believed in HZD. IXI is another opportunity with fantastic solutions and products.

I don't understand why they are rushing to accept such a low offer. The share price was 268.50 on 14.8.2017. Poor return for shareholders with no dividends either.

I see the share price is slightly above the offer price a.t.m. Does that suggest a higher bid might be forthcoming?

Not replicsted in the share price, however.

So that shouldn't reflect on HZD one way or another. Just a tidy up operation between the other 2 companies.

I wonder why HZD's share price has shot up today but I haven't checked to see whether the index has also done so.

What do you think about their prospects going forward? I'm losing rather a lot on my holding and wondering whether to use the spare cash I have in my ISA to top up, or whether Next, RDSB, SMT, or Photo-Me would be a better bet. or whether none of them is worth topping up. Am losing on all but SMT and the rest of that ISA is a car crash and I wouldn't think of adding. HZD has the (very relevant to me)AIM IHT exemption at present, but for how much longer? And I wonder how long ISAs will survive. The chancellor is going to need to extract as much tax as possible.

I see on Google Finance that they are showing Abcam share prices going back to 1998, 7 years before Abcam's IPO. Total nonsense. Abcam floated at 180p a share (36p after 5:1 share split and have NEVER been below that).

Taking a long-term view is great but valuations also have to be reasonable. Today's market cap for HZD is £228M on an share price of 146p. Is this company really worth £228M? If so, on what objective basis? I can't see it myself. No profit to speak of and the company itself has managed revenue growth expectations to single figure % per year.

The ONLY bull point I can see around HZD is that they are in the CRISPR market. So far they've failed to capitalise on it in a way that is suggestive of a company that can multiply its value 10-fold, which is what I want from companies I invest in. I did have high hopes for HZD hence my interest.
