The GPM sp, ValueHurts, is directly linked to the Gold price. When the Gold price goes on a bull run, the GPM share price follows suit (albeit there's always a time lag before the miners and hence GPM respond to the rising Gold price).
I can see the shares that GPM currently holds in it's portfolio and their weighting in the portfolio by looking at the most recent GPM data sheet and the annual report, but as I know absolutely nothing about Gold and PM mining I don't know if they will turn out to be good, or bad, investments. I have to trust the judgements of the fund managers. I believe GPM have around 65 shares in their portfolio. However they do pick the odd dog; PUR was a classic example.
As has been mentioned by others many of the so called experts have been bullish on Gold for ages, but their predictions have turned out to be wishful thinking and have proved to be completely wrong.
I have based my buying of GPM on my GOLD price charts and not the predictions of the so called experts, who are often just talking their own book! I have also ignored my Strongly Bearish GPM chart ( it has only turned Strongly Bullish within the past week, or so).

A Bullish "Golden Cross" (50 day EMA rising above an already rising 200 day EMA) has appeared within the last week on my GPM longer term chart. The GPM share price has already risen by almost 50% since the February 2024 lows. Hopefully this "Golden Cross" indicates that the rise in the GPM share price has much, much, further to go and the rise will continue for a long time!

The above chart shows that GPM is worth buying when it breaks above a bottoming 200 day EMA (which often acts as support soon after to the GPM sp). GPM was obviously oversold when it dropped to 20p just over 15 years ago, when the 200 day EMA was over 40p. You'll notice that the GPM share price invariably goes back towards the 200 day EMA so when the GPM share price dropped to an oversold 20p at the end of 2008 was also a good time to buy.
Similarly when the GPM share price rises far too high above the 200 day EMA (in other words it spikes up and it's overbought) it's a good time to sell!
I can't predict the future, but history has a habit of repeating itself! That's mainly because humans are creatures of habit and invariably repeat the same mistakes again and again ad-infinitum!

The "herd" need to start buying junior Gold miners and explorers again, Atlantic57. We need FOMO again in this sector.
My GPM log chart shows that the declining 400 day EMA proved tough resistance that the GPM share price was unable to break above in H1 2023. The GPM share price is similarly unable now to break above the declining 400 day EMA. In fact there might be a small double top forming on the chart indicating a possible small fall in the GPM share price The RSI is also declining. However I can't predict the future, so let's see what happens.

As you can see, seagreen, from this log chart comparing the share price performance of GPM vs Gold from mid 2015 to the end of 2018 and from the start of 2021 to the current day whilst the Gold price went sideways during these 2 periods the GPM share price plummeted. In fact history shows us that the GPM share price plummets when the Gold price falls, or goes sideways. Only when the Gold price rises and rises relatively quickly does the GPM share price take off and become a geared play on the Gold price! History has a habit of repeating itself!!
Only time will tell if my bullish expectations for Gold (and hence GPM) become reality. I'm confident and that's the most important thing for me, seagreen.

The future GPM share price will obviously depend on the future Gold price. I can't predict the future, 1hercule, but a 50% gain in the Gold price to $3000, before the end of 2025, should double the GPM share price to 50p at least. Maybe higher? To retest the 2020 high of 72p? Let's hope so! 🤞🙏

GPM/XAUUSD long term log chart.
You can see that the GPM share price only goes on a bull run when the Gold price does, 1hercule. At all other times (when the Gold price is declining and going sideways) the GPM share price falls.
Hence I believe investors should view GPM as a short term investment, rather than a long term one.

GPM log chart since it listed and compared with the Gold price over the same time period.
You will see that the GPM share price fell significantly in the period 2016-2019 whilst the Gold price went sideways during the same period. Similar to what is happening now to the GPM share price as the Gold price has moved sideways since the 2020 peak .

2 year GOLD price candlestick log chart showing EMA's and 14 day RSI.
This chart is still bullish, however the falling 14 day RSI shows that the Gold price probably has further to fall in the short term.

PS I might add a token amount to my shareholding in GPM, but I will wait until the 14 day RSI becomes oversold and then starts to rise again. I won't be contemplating adding a more substantial amount to my GPM holding until the GPM chart starts to turn Bullish again (as I showed yesterday in my GPM chart it's been Strongly Bearish for a very long time).
I regret starting to buy GPM shares when the Gold chart went Strongly Bullish at the start of 2023 following the drop to $1625. I imagined that the GPM share price would reflect a rising Gold price, but I was wrong. In fact the GPM share price is now lower than when the Gold price was only $1625 around 15 months ago due to junior Gold miners being so out of favour with investors. "You live and learn"!!

3 year GPM log showing EMA's and 14 day RSI. As can be seen this GPM chart has been Strongly Bearish for over 2 years, unlike the Gold chart, which has been Strongly Bullish for over a year. Proof that junior Gold miners are completely out of favour with investors.
The 14 day RSI shows that the GPM share price has become oversold today. As can be seen from the above chart the GPM share price often spikes up (but not always) after the 14 day RSI starts to rise from an oversold position. It looks like the RSI will decline further before starting to rise again.
