Posted at 11/4/2024 19:45 by clive7878 Tesco PLC (LSE:TSCO) announces an Equity Buyback for £1,000 million worth of its shares.Tesco PLC (LSE:TSCO) announces a share repurchase program. Under the program, the company will repurchase shares worth £1,000 million. The plan will be valid for next 12 months. I predict that tomorrow will see a firmer share price. |
Posted at 11/4/2024 12:04 by hazl Indeed macro drives things.I lean towards una's position, however. People need food, dividends are welcome and things never remain the same for long. I would rther have the fundamentals of the company being sound, the share price will sort itself out in the end. imo |
Posted at 11/4/2024 10:11 by clive7878 Drop today may have levelled out - buying opportunity ?It nearly always happens that the share price does not follow logic at time. You could say that it is easier to lose money by bad timing than to gain profit. |
Posted at 11/4/2024 07:19 by tenapen No - Tesco claim to be doing their best for hard pressed customers - if that was true !, with the huge profits they are making, they would lower prices across the board. This would be a great publicity story driving future growth. Instead the board are looking after their own bonuses with a rising share price, brought on buy the share buy back.Don't dress this up as anything other than the usual taking the British public as mugs. |
Posted at 10/4/2024 13:38 by peteret Let's have a look at what happened today.the results were brilliant and the share price dropped 4p to 284 on opening the went up to 290 and would not exceed this as it was being manipulated to fool holders in to selling even dropping down to 288.After 10 o'clock all the big players in the know had a chance to load up and the price was let of the leash gong up to over 300.It's all a big fiddle. |
Posted at 10/4/2024 08:42 by tuftymatt Based on the divi increase over last years final divi I wonder if the interim will be raised too when it rolls around by a similar level making it circa 4.5pWe would then be on for 12.75p which at a 300 share price is over 4.2% Good luck all 👍🏻 |
Posted at 10/4/2024 07:45 by unastubbs Could be we go over 3 today. FTSE futures look set fair, possibly TSCO to head the leader board for once??I'll be listening to the analyst presentation today, I hope the CFO might be able to comment on the bb and at what point he considers that it no longer brings value. Is there some kind of metric that can be applied to shares to demonstrate that they are still "cheap" (or not)? With ITs it appears to be very straightforward, if the share price is significantly under NAV then a buyback is an option. |
Posted at 10/4/2024 07:32 by tuftymatt Very nice 😀Can we break and hold 300 now or will the algo's find something to cause a fall in the price?? Either way you can't knock the company and in time the share price will reflect that. Good luck all 👍🏻 |
Posted at 04/1/2024 12:01 by keyno The share price has only been this high once before since 2014. Why are TSCO paying a broker to continue to buy back their shares at this level? Anybody care to explain please?I am not a fan of bb's generally but in the 290's for TSCO it seems crazy. Edit: plus comm. plus stamp duty.............. |
Posted at 01/12/2023 18:08 by 1carus hmm, any increase in share price due to selling the bank will only be a proportion of the sale. Share price currently reflects Tesco owning the bank, when it sells it will reflect Tesco - the Bank + the payment for the bank. It does not increase the value of the company by the sale price of the bank, and arguably does not even change the value of the company, just gives it spare cash. |
